Reaching For The Star: The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award

Do you recall how heart-warming it is to receive positive feedback of your work? Well, if you are open-minded then you know how good it feels to receive any feedback at all either positive or negative.

With a month’s worth of blogging experience and two year’s worth of untutored writing experience, I feel like I am on Cloud Nine whenever someone reacts to my work. To think that I was happy enough… Then POOF! I was sent to Cloud Ten when I was nominated for the Liebster Award!

First and foremost, I wish to thank Ms. Annalena Ganner of Annalena’s Heart(h)beat for recognizing my blog and assuming it fit for such a recognition.

Fame comes with a price so my task (it appears that tasks follow me from left to right) was to answer the following questions that Ms. Ganner has provided for me.

Liebster Award Nomination Questions

What is the story behind your blog name?

Hahaha! Hallelujah for Blogtober! Fate has been favorable to me recently as I have already posted an answer for this question.
Struggling To Be A Human Being is an adult crash course blog on how to rekindle the compassion, care, sympathy, and love in our hearts. It is not all life lessons. Featured as well are my travelling thoughts and experiences as a flight attendant and a collection of my artwork and literature will pop here and there.
For more details, read this poem that I made as I struggled to name my blog.

When and why did you start blogging?

This WordPress blog was officially born on the 21st of September 2015. Before that, I went through different events and circumstances in my life that was tempting me to shift the world that I knew upside down. I always thought that there is natural good in everybody. I never understood why some will truly seek out ways to gain power or money or whatever they aim to have. That blackened me. I lost that capability in myself. It was all in a whim. I just started up WordPress and created a website. I wanted to remind people (and myself) that there is good. So, consequently the first two posts that I made on that fateful day are tips on being happy despite the tough times and what is this blog all about.

Where you like to be in 5 years time?

In five years, I would like to…

…have provided my family the car and maid that they need (hopefully a house/condo unit too)
…have made a name for myself in the writing or art world
…establish my own business
…cross out more items from my bucket list
…do things that I know that I would dream of but cannot think of right now.

If you could write a letter to yourself 10 years a go, what is one thing you would tell your younger self?

Hooray for Blogtober!!!! I have one constant answer for this. I won’t write a letter. Not to my past. Not to my future.

What do you find to be the most challenging part of blogging?

I think it is the dedication. I am having a constant struggle with this. I don’t usually finish what I start. I am already in awe that I have not missed a Blogtober day yet. Blogging requires constant work, promotion, interaction, and improvement. If I am (or you are) doing this for the long haul then this is one thing that we should all learn. Dedication.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Oh Ben, how I missed you! I wish that I could see you again! PS. Blogtober saved my life from this post ehehe.

What is your favourite food?

I have no specific preferences. I call myself a gourmet gobbler. I eat anything with finesse. May it be a slice of the richest cake or a squiggling wood worm. But there is one specific food brand that I am loyal to. Oreos.

What is one thing that you want to do before you die?

I always had this image in my mind for years. I am sitting on a rocking chair and crocheting a doll for my grandkid while a smile is on my face knowing that I have done my job and I have worked my existence well.

What is your favourite post that you have written?

I never realized that a simple book review will become the rawest and the most emotionally-tiring post that I have ever written here. I do not think I will ever be the same after it.

What advice would you give to someone just starting a blog?

I won’t say ‘advice’. I am still starting out as well. I would rather that people would call it ’empathetic help’.

What is one goal related to blogging that you would like to complete in the next year?

Hehehe sly old me. I have just recently posted an answer to this, yes, to Blogtober. My main goal for next year among many others is to be able to start and finish a 365 day project.
